Sepro America, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer with the drive and ability to be part of a leading supplier of industrial robots and automation equipment for customers in the plastic injection molding industry.  Due to the rapid growth of the business, Sepro America must acquire a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the customer demands for automating their processes.





Job Description:

Design and support automation projects from purchase order to implementation at the customer’s site.

  • Manages own schedule to maintain project requirements
  • Works within project budgets
  • Ability to apply general engineering calculations for machine design
  • Understands general drawing requirements and tolerancing
  • Understands typical manufacturing practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • 3-7 Year experience in automation and/or machine design
  • Knowledge of the injection molding industry
  • Works proficiently in Solidworks (primary) and AutoCAD (secondary)

Job Duties:

1.      Design custom automation equipment

  • Interact with colleagues and customers to define solutions that meet customer requirements
  • Apply design knowledge to develop automated manipulation tooling and control fixtures for automation cells using pneumatic and electric actuators
  • Prepare general work cell layouts
  • Generate design models, assembly drawings and detail drawings that support the creation of Sepro Automation Equipment
  • Complete the necessary documents to support the purchasing, manufacturing and assembly of the equipment

 

2.      Standard automation equipment

  • Design custom spacers/risers for adapting of standard equipment to customer’s equipment
  • Generate robot layouts for specific installations at customer sites

 

3.      Support

  • Support the procurement process by maintaining contact with vendors on timing and costing
  • Support the assembly department by providing release documents, special instructions and timing requirements
  • Support the equipment proving efforts by supporting the set up/alignment of the equipment, providing special sequence instructions and internal sign-offs
  • Support the sales department by developing costing/quotations for new projects and change orders to existing projects
  • Support other Project Engineers in designs or drawings when necessary

 

4.      General

  • Required to communicate and interact professionally with customers
  • Required to maintain communication of project status to Engineering Manager
  • Required to maintain intended project schedules
  • Required to maintain boundaries on project Scope of Work limitations
  • Required to travel to customer sites or vendor sites occasionally (<10%) to support the project requirements
